Getting started

From zero to a bot answering in Slack or Microsoft Teams: an account, a workspace, and three setup steps that build on each other.

Create an account

  1. Open the sign-up page

Go to /signup (or click Get started in the header) and create your account.

  2. Enter your details

Name, email, and a password of at least 8 characters. The Organization name field is optional: fill it in to create your first workspace now, or skip it and create one from the dashboard later.

  3. Watch for a verification email

Gondola sends a verification email when you sign up — open the link inside to verify your address. Once verified, sign in to reach your workspace.

Workspaces

Everything in Gondola — connections, agents, bots, the audit log — is scoped to a workspace. The UI calls it an organization; the two words mean the same thing here.

There are a few ways to get a workspace:

  • Sign up. Creating your account creates your first workspace. Most accounts have exactly one.
  • Invitation. Anyone can be invited into additional workspaces. Accepting an invite adds that workspace to your switcher.
  • Agency accounts. Enabled by an administrator, these can create additional workspaces (e.g. one per customer). Each workspace has its own connections, agents, bots, team, and billing.
  • Platform admins. Can impersonate into any workspace and create workspaces on a user's behalf.

Switching the active workspace on the dashboard changes which connections, agents, and bots you see across the app.

Joining a workspace

  1. Get the accept link

It arrives by email when the instance has SMTP configured. Otherwise the person who invited you copies the link from their Team settings and sends it to you directly.

  2. Open it and sign in

Not signed in? You're sent to create an account first (or to sign in), and come back to the invitation afterwards.

  3. Review and accept

The invitation shows the workspace name, who invited you, and the role you'll join as. Accept adds you to the workspace and switches you to it. You can also decline.

Two things can go wrong, and both pages say what to do:

  • Wrong account. The invitation only works for the email address it was sent to. Sign out, then sign in or create an account with the invited address.
  • Invitation no longer valid. It expired, was withdrawn, or was already used — ask for a new one.

The working order

Setup has a direction: each step needs the one before it. The dashboard's Get set up card walks the same order.

  1. Add a Snowflake connection

The account identifier, user, role, and a credential Gondola uses to reach Snowflake — encrypted at rest. Covered in Connections.

  2. Pick or create a Cortex Agent

Agents live on a connection. Browse the ones already there or define a new one. Covered in Agents.

  3. Create a bot

Name the @handle and attach it one-to-one to the agent, then finish the platform setup from the bot's page. Pick Slack or Microsoft Teams as the platform — both are covered in Bots.

Then @mention the bot in any channel it's invited to. The agent's answer streams into a thread, and follow-ups in that thread keep the conversation going.

Account security

Resetting your password

With email configured: open the sign-in page, click Forgot password?, and enter your account email. If an account exists, a reset link is on its way — it's valid for about an hour and leads to a page where you choose a new password.

Without SMTP, password-reset email isn't available and the forgot-password page says so. Ask a platform admin to set a new password for you from Admin → Users → Set password — see Administration.

Your profile

Settings → General shows your name, email, and your role in the active workspace, plus a note on how Gondola stores credentials (AES-256-GCM encrypted, write-only).
